Park City - February 2008

Here is my restaurant in Park City.

So much snow has shed from the roof that it's torn off most of the gutter system; and the pile of snow next to the window blocks much of the view.

Since new year, I have been snowmobiling in and out of my house. I simply park my beater truck at the bottom of the road (the Audi hasn't seen the light of day since Christmas), and snowmobile the mile and a half from the house to the truck. Around January 25th, I couldn't even snowmobile in and out--
I had to snowshoe!

Today is February 13th. Joe Hisler spent 15 hours in a loader opening up my road.

Believe it or not, this is a 20-something foot tall snowdrift at the top of my switchbacks.

This photo just doesn't do the drift justice. As Joe said, this thing is "phenomenal." It's actually quite a bit taller than it looks here.

Joe was worried he would tear the mirrors off the loader when he was gnawing through this thing.

Now we arrive at my house--
the Shogun Sage Ranch.

The pile of snow on the right is about 12 feet tall.
Notice if you can that the roof of my barn is peeled back like a banana. (next photo) The 70-mph sustained winds made easy work of this.
Somehow, I got the old truck started and intend to keep the road open while it's blizzarding tonight.
